Tips of the Season
Summer
- Summer is a great time to organize children’s clothes. Any clothes from last year that are still in great shape can be stored by size and season and then stored in labeled tubs for a younger sibling. Clothes can also be donated, or taken to a consignment shop. Shops are now taking fall/winter items. It is also a chance to take an inventory of what your child will need for the upcoming school year.
- Take time to organize your car glove compartment. It is a temptation just to shove items in that space. Take everything out and sort the items. The owner’s manual, a tire pressure gauge, a small flashlight, a small first aid kit (or a larger one can go under a seat), your car phone charger, and some napkins or paper towels can go back into the compartment. Grouping some of the items in small Ziploc bags can keep the jumbled look down
- Keep a plastic zip pouch in the car with coupons to favorite restaurants and other places you might go to on impulse. Purge on a regular basis so that all coupons are current.
- Summer is such a busy time. Make use of a master calendar, perhaps color coding the individuals in the home so that everyone can see what times people already have commitments.
