It’s hard to believe that we have completed the first quarter of the year. Spring is a good time to revisit our original goals and intentions.

My focus this year is on improving my physical health, bringing more joy back into my life, expanding my circle of friends, and traveling. This is a journey of discovery and involves many challenges and chances to grow.

I always feel the best way to review an ongoing project is to take time to congratulate ourselves on what we have accomplished so far.

My review:

1.     Physical Health

·        Continuing to ride on a regular basis on my Peloton bike

·        Added weights three times a week

·        Doing a weekly guided meditation on my off day from the bike

·        Added fitness reminders on my Apple watch

2.     Adding joy

·        Working on my family reunion – enjoying conversations with my family and friends as I plan

·        Took a trip to the Atlanta Botanic Gardens to see the tulips in bloom

·        Working on some church projects

3.     Expanding circle of friends

·        Having more social interactions with church members

4.     Travel

·        Making plans for the ICD conference

·        Reaching out to family members about possible trips

·        Had a friend reach out to me about a possible long weekend trip to Jekyll Island

The next step on reviewing the project is to look at what needs to happen to keep the project moving forward.

My intentions:

1.     Physical health

·        Add chair yoga to my weekly routine

·        Walk at least two times a week

2.     Adding joy

·        Hold the reunion and enjoy the family gathering and the sharing of stories

·        Look for other day trips or experiences that are just for fun

·        Continue to expand my work at church

3.     Expand circle of friends

·        Look for other church activities that would cause me to interact more

·        Look for other volunteer activities

4.     Travel

·        Continue to investigate possible side trips connected to the ICD conference

·        Investigate possible train trips to take with family

·        Follow up with a friend on Jekyll Island about a possible stay with them while making a visit

Considering that I lost most of January due to illness, I feel good about how this year is shaping up.

My Challenge to You:

1.     Review your New Year goals and intentions

2.     Check off your wins and congratulate yourself

3.     Refresh your plans for your next steps

You are so good at having focused intentions; it makes it so much easier to see where you can do more, should do less, or should change course! My word/theme of the year is "whimsy," and while I'm getting good at finding the whimsy in each day, I'm not planning as many opportunities for whimsy as I ought. This is a good reminder. I often lack foresight regarding what I actually want out of my year. Knowing what I want would help me set more actionable goals, but as I get older, there's less that I want, and thus less that I intentionally design. You've created a streamlined template for ideating simple, achievable intentions!

Your current focus parallels my word-of-the-year, which is Vibrancy! It sounds like you're doing really well and have some fun stuff coming up - enjoy!

I like how concise your intentions are. It's easier to track progress this way. Way to go on all fronts. I've been adding weights to my workouts in recent years because everything I see says loss of muscle mass is rapid and harmful as we age. As for travel, it seems like such a hassle these days. Spent hours at LaGuardia on a recent trip. Maybe I need to stick to car travel!

I like the way you identified each of your goals for the quarter and noted where you had made progress. I also like that you wrote down what you will do next to move these projects forward.

I love this reminder! Thanks, I will have to do this soon. I usually revisit around the middle of the year because it is a slower time. But it is a good idea to review quarterly. =)
