Make Your Workspace Sparkle!

Every January I work on organizing and decluttering my office. I spend a lot of time in this space, and I want it to be not only productive but inviting.

So, after I have purged and organized my files and project bins and decluttered my desk, I do a deep clean. This is my “spring clean” in January.

I clean and use paste wax on my wood furniture. There is nothing like the smell and shine of freshly waxed furniture.

All the books are taken out of the bookcase and evaluated. I have about 10 that are going to find new homes.

I wash the inside of the windows and the clean the window treatments. You don’t realize how much grime accumulates over a year until you do the cleaning.

I have a bird mobile over my head that gets taken down and “deflocked”.

The overhead fan gets a cleaning.

My pictures are taken down and wiped down and the wall behind them is brushed down.

I received a new picture this year for Christmas, and I hung it right by my desk.

Other art pieces are cleaned, and the fountain is taken apart and cleaned.

The couches and the rug get professionally cleaned.

When this is complete, my office really sparkles. It invites me in. For the rest of the year, it will only need weekly maintenance cleaning.

I love working in my office.
